A typical Thai meal includes five key flavours: sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and spicy. Most Thai dishes are considered incomplete or dissatisfying unless they combine all five flavours. In daily life, rice is the staple food in Thailand. In central and southern parts of the country polished white rice is eaten, whereas, in the north and north-east, people eat sticky rice. When dining most locals eat a meal consisting of meat and fish dishes along with vegetables, a noodles dish, and soup.

The county's culture mixes strong Indian influences, Chinese traditions, and elements that are absolutely Thai. Many of the beliefs and traditions of the Thai people stem directly from Buddhist principles, but Hinduism has also made some important influences on the country's culture. And the close connection between India and Thailand can be seen in art, literature, and many of Thailand's customs.
